Get to know our newest Mobbler, Katie McCabe!
Hailing from rural Southland and now based in Sheffield, in New Zealand’s South Island, Katie McCabe has been working across different aspects of agribusiness for the last decade. Growing up with a stock agent as her Dad means Katie has been a frequent visitor to the sale yards for as long as she can remember, and livestock management is second nature for her.
Katie enjoyed her time studying Agriculture and Horticulture at Lincoln University in 2013 so much so that she later returned to Lincoln to work, forging a career in promoting Agriculture to the next generation of farmers.
During this time, Katie was an executive member of the East Coast Federated Farmers Executive, an advocacy group to address farming issues concerning He Waka Eke Noa and in the aftermath of cyclone Gabrielle.
Katie has experience across all levels of Agribusiness, from office manager at a cherry orchard in Central Otago, to supply chain logistics at PGG Wrightson Seeds, and working as an Agri Recruitment Consultant. Recently she spent time living on a 1000 ha sheep and beef station in the Central Hawkes Bay.
Katie joins Mobble as our NZ Business Development Officer and is most excited to work with Kiwi farmers to make their lives easier and more successful.
As someone who knows the NZ industry intimately, she’s passionate about connecting with farmers across the country to help boost productivity, management and navigate regional compliance .
On day two of Katie’s role at Mobble, she flew up to the Central District Field Day to join Amie and Sarah on the Mobble stand. Talk about commitment to the job!
We handed over to Katie to answer this question…
“Like all good rural girls, I admit that I can’t go past a good old fashioned ‘town day’. “Family is really important to me so I often head back to Southland ; Mum and Dad joke that my Southland accent is fading. We often spend summer days in Central Otago Boating.
My partner is an avid fisherman so I try to get involved but I haven’t had much luck so far.
My happy place is in my kitchen, I love cooking for other people.”
Katie will be our first point of contact for our NZ Mobblers, and we’re thrilled to have her join the Mobble team.
If you’re in NZ and want to drop Katie a line, reach out to her on hello@mobble.io.
